Magenta’s “Classic Cup” Takes Gold at IMDA Competition

2013 IMDB Gold AwardMagenta, LLC. was recently honored with a 2013 Gold Award from the In-Mold Decorating Association (IMDA) for the innovative use of IML (in-mold labeling) in its new “Classic” cup.

“We are very excited to receive the honor, especially for our very first product introduction in this category,” said Lisa Skul, VP of Marketing at Magenta.

The “Classic” is the premier product from the new, Downers Grove, IL-based company and was honored in the “Best Injection Molded (IML) Package” division of the IMDA awards. The environmentally-friendly, American-made plastic all-purpose cup from Magenta features a proprietary, ultra leak-resistant lid design with fun flipper color options. The IML technology used in the manufacturing process actually fuses the beautiful, custom four-color image with the exterior cup material during production. The resulting image on the product is more durable than a screen-printed image. It will not peel, scratch off or degrade with repeated dish washings.

“IML technology is not brand new but is becoming more prevalent in the packaging industry. This application was a true innovation for the drinkware market,” said Skul.

Magenta received the award at the 2013 IMDA Symposium on October 24th in Lowell, MA.

The “Classic” is the flagship brand of Magenta Drinkware’s growing line of customizable plastic travel cups. Others include the Vibe, which is molded with another inventive process that uses a color wash of white and solid resin in three intensity levels to produce completely unique cups during each production run; and the Elite, which uses Eastman Tritan™ copolyester material for a premium cup with superior durability and graphic clarity. Magenta also currently supplies quality, branded cups to some of the more upscale franchise beverage outlets across America.
